The history of the Helenental Kellerei reaches all the way back to 1942, when the Retz-Röschitz winegrowers’ cooperative was founded in the north-western wine district. This cooperative quickly became known for the unique quality of its wines. When the Austrian State treaty was signed in 1955, the Retz-Röschitz wine cooperative’s Blauer Portugieser was served at the state banquet. The successful collaboration between the region’s winegrowers continues to be a strong influence on the Helenental Kellerei’s philosophy to this day.

“Seeing how the Helenental Kellerei has developed since 2013 fills me with great joy and gives us the strength to face future challenges,” says Walther Schnopfhagen, owner and visionary, who has had a close connection to the wine landscape of the north-western wine district since childhood. His aim is to establish the Helenental Kellerei as a successful company in the Austrian wine industry. After many years working in the field of tax and accounting, this is a huge challenge, but one he is very excited to take on with his team.

“Together but still seperately”, René Pollak - owner of “Rockabilly_Weinkult” - has been the second managing director and cellar master at Helenental Kellerei since January 1, 2025. René Pollak has moved his production of Rockabilly wines to the Helenental Kellerei and he will manage the wine production of the Helenental Kellerei. The start of a successful future together!
